cantus iuvenis with Nadia Rungger – Identity across languages

cantus iuvenis is a choir from Vienna that performs both classical and modern choral literature, polyphonic and a cappella. The density of Ladin songs is unmissable. The choir consists of around 50 singers, was founded in 2003 by André Comploi and has been under the musical direction of Mathias Crazzolara since 2020.

 

Nadia Rungger is a poet and writer, born in 1998 and lives in Val Gardena/South Tyrol. Her debut “Das Blatt mit den Lösungen”. She won several awards for German and Ladin-language prose and poetry, most recently the Irseer Pegasus Literature Prize of the Schwabenakademie 2024, the Literature Prize of the Südtiroler Künstlerbund 2024 and the Lichtungen-Lyrik-Stipendium des Landes Steiermark 2024. Her play Morvëies (Miracles) was performed in collaboration with the Stadttheater Bruneck as part of the European project phōnē. Publications in literary journals, including LICHTUNGEN and Kulturelemente, projects with art and literature and literary exhibitions with poetry, including at the Landesmuseum Franzensfeste. Presenter of the radio programme on literature and art Nëidies de ert y leteratura on Rai Ladinia.

 

The event is entitled ‘Identity between languages’. This is intended to act as a framework for the multilingual music and poetry that will be performed and recited during the evening. The audience is invited to reflect on questions about language and identity: Together, we will reflect about language and identity: How does language shape our identity? Is our identity dependent on our mother tongue? How can this change over the course of our lives?
