Education and learning

The varied education services at the Museum Ladin.

Museums can bring culture to life by offering an interactive experience. Our workshops encourage active participation and creativity without any mention of productivity. Children enjoy embarking on exciting adventures to explore new and old worlds. Our guided tours of the museum also bring the fascinating history of the Ladin community to life for children in a creative way.

We’re on a mission to encourage kids to be open towards other people and cultures. We want to inspire them to reflect on their own life, the world they share with others and the culture around them. Through our work, we’re aiming to make children more aware of their own culture and other cultures too.

We believe that interactive experiences are the key to genuine understanding. That’s why we encourage children to look at the world around them with inquisitive minds and an awareness of themselves and different cultures. By involving all their senses in an interactive experience, we inspire them to make full use their physical, social and intellectual skills and strengths. We have a responsibility to do more than just share knowledge. We also want to create an inspiring setting where children can learn.

Educational programme

‘Le cör dla ciasa’ Ladin arts and crafts

Did you know that the Ladins were and are very talented artisans? Our guided tour through the Museum Ladin Ciastel de Tor will show you the many areas in which the Ladins have demonstrated their craftsmanship over the centuries. Finally, we’ll make ourselves comfortable in the Stüa and try our hand at making a clock out of cardboard using various techniques.

Do you know Moltina?

Who is Moltina? Where does she come from? We answer these and other questions in the creative workshop about Moltina – the marmot princess. After a short tour of Museum Ladin, we’ll tell you the story of Moltina and make a little puppet theatre with paper figures. You can then take it back to your nursery school.

In the footsteps of the prehistoric bear

Discover the Museum Ladin Ursus ladinicus! There are not only exciting bear stories and information to listen to, but also a craft workshop. Create your own bear mask with colourful leaves, seeds and natural materials. Immerse yourself in the world of the Ursus ladinicus that lived in the Conturines region more than 50,000 years ago.

Do you know Ander?

Who is Ander? Come to the Museum Ladin Ursus ladinicus and discover everything you can learn about the geology of the Dolomites and the cave bear. After the guided tour, we’ll immerse you in the world of Ander, the little cave bear, with a story. Together we will then make a little theatre with paper figures.

Oh what a fine castle!

Ready? Let’s go! Together we explore the different sections and rooms of the castle Ciastel de Tor and admire the objects shown in the permanent exhibition of the Museum Ladin. Afterwards we decorate our own castle. A single piece to take home with us!

Discover the Dolomites

Join us as we playfully explore the creation of the Dolomites, often referred to as the ‘pale mountains.’ What makes them so extraordinary? We’ll dive into the process of fossilization and even craft our own guide fossil. Let’s discover how these unique mountains came to be!

The depot of the Museum Ladin

Is the depot a secret treasure trove? Or a cellar with magical artefacts? What does the word depot actually mean? On an exploratory tour through the depot of the Museum Ladin, you will learn all about cataloguing and the proper storage of exhibits and documents. Finally, you can try cataloguing an object yourself.

The Dolomites and their formation

During a guided tour of the Ladin Ursus Ladinicus Museum, we will learn how the ‘pale mountains’ were formed, what their special features are and why they are so unique. Afterwards, we can recreate the process of fossilisation, solve a domino about the geological eras and design our guide fossil.

Treasure hunt at Ciastel de Tor

During the treasure hunt at Museum Ladin, your class will be divided into small groups and you will explore the museum together, helped by a museum map. Your photographic memory will help you to memorise the exact position of some of the exhibits, because that’s what the game is all about.

The ‘Stube’ in the box

Do you know the Ladin parlour? What is special about it? Our guided tour through the Museum Ladin Ciastel de Tor will show you the typical Ladin parlour and the many crafts in which Ladins have demonstrated their skills over the centuries. Finally, we’ll make ourselves comfortable in the castle’s Stüa and try our hand at creating a ‘parlour in a box’ using various techniques.

The seven arrows

Dolasilla, the daughter of the king of the Fanes kingdom, has lost her seven arrows, which have never been missing. Only with their help can she survive the next battle unwounded. Can you help the king’s daughter find the seven arrows and save her life?

Geological tour with a palaeontologist

A palaeontologist will guide your class through the Ladin Ursus ladinicus museum and explain everything you need to know about the Dolomites and how they were formed. The cave bear and its way of life, which is closely linked to the Dolomites, will also be explained.

The history of Ladinia: legendary!

Under the cover of darkness, Dolasilla has watched with fascination for thousands of years what people have been doing in the Dolomite valleys. How, after the Ice Age, nomadic hunters climbed the heights, how the Romans occupied the land. She is moved by the fighting in the First World War and watches in amazement as travellers conquer the landscape. What will history bring next? Maybe you’ll be lucky and Dolasilla will tell you about it herself! Wouldn’t that be amazing?

Introduction and audio guide

After a short introduction by a museum employee, your class can explore the Museum Ladin independently with an audio guide.
