Around 252 million years ago, massive volcanic eruptions in Siberia triggered a climate catastrophe that led to a mass extinction. How did life recover afterwards? How did organisms adapt to the warm, low-oxygen environment? And given that humanity today emits more carbon dioxide than the Siberian volcanoes did at the time of the mass extinction, how does our behaviour affect biodiversity and the resilience of the environment and what can each and every one of us do to reduce emissions and promote a more sustainable future?

The exhibition ‘Countdown to Mass Extinction?’ at the Museum Ladin Ciastel de Tor in San Martin de Tor will soon provide answers to these questions. It will be opened on Friday, the 14th of June at 6 pm at the Museum Ladin Ciastel de Tor, Torstraße 65, San Martino in Badia.

Among those attending will be the Provincial Councillor for Ladin Culture, Daniel Alfreider, the Provincial Councillor for Museums, Philipp Achammer, the Mayor of San Martino in Badia, Giorgio Costabiei, the Director of the Museum Ladin, Katharina Moling and curator Herwig Prinoth.
